The National Bank of Kazakhstan (hereinafter referred to as NBK) will issue a commemorative banknote with a denomination of 1,000 tenge starting from May 9, 2025, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. The circulation of the banknote is limited and will total 5 million pieces.

May 9th is a significant date for the entire world. Kazakhstan made a substantial contribution to the Victory. About 1.2 million people from the republic were mobilized, which was approximately 20% of the total population at that time. Our compatriots fought heroically in infantry, tank units, aviation, and on the navy. In memory of their heroism and courage, the National Bank is issuing a commemorative banknote of the national currency.

On the design of the commemorative banknote

The color of the banknote is brownish-beige.

On the obverse side, it depicts:

– The Glory Memorial located in the park named after the 28th Guards Panfilov Regiment is a tribute to heroes who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland.

– Microscopic protective strip. When the angle of view changes on the banknote: a three-dimensional effect of depth, volume, and brilliance appears on the strip, as well as the effects of eternal fire movement and flying cranes. The silhouettes of the cranes represent good and hope, symbolizing life.

On the reverse side, it depicts:

– Kazakhstan map with historical archival photographs. The images are presented by the Central State Archive of Film and Photo Documents and Sound Recording of the Kazakh Republic Ministry of Culture and Information <1>www.kfdz.kz.

– The Order of the Patriotic War as a symbol of courage, steadfastness, and bravery.

The commemorative banknote with a face value of 1,000 tenge is mandatory for acceptance at full nominal value throughout the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan for all types of payments, as well as for deposit into bank accounts and for transfer, exchange, and remittance in all banks of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
